Midrand Graduate Institute (MGI) was established in 1989 – celebrating our 20th anniversary in 2009.

MGI is a private university-level, degree-conferring institution – one of the first of its' kind in Southern Africa. We currently offer 17 accredited degrees within six faculties. 

MGI is well known for its excellence in career-focused programmes that are accredited locally and recognised internationally. 

We have established agreements and partnerships with local and international higher education institutions. These partnerships are rooted in a shared commitment to provide relevant education of high quality. This adds strength and diversity to MGI's programmes and broadens the learning opportunities for MGI students.

MGI is a registered private provider of higher education with the Department of Education (No. 2001/HE07/008) in accordance with the Higher Education Act, 1997, section 54 (1)(c) and section 54(2)(a).

All of MGI's qualifications are accredited by the Council on Higher Education's (CHE's) Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC).

A number of MGI's qualifications are also accredited by professional and industry bodies like the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), the Design Education Forum of Southern

Africa (DEFSA), the Charted Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Midrand Tourism Association (MTA), the Computer Society of South Africa (CSSA) and the Information Technology Association (ITA).
