Duration
All full-time undergraduate degree programmes are offered over a minimum period of three years. All part-time undergraduate degree programmes are offered over a minimum of four and a half years.
Description
MGI’s BCom in Accounting degree is designed to enable graduates to proceed into the accounting and finance related fields. The degree is of a very high standard and requires dedication and hard work as students are required to write numerous tests and exams during the year.
Once the student has qualified, the degree provides the opportunity to proceed with a postgraduate qualification.
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) recognises the MGI BCom in Accounting degree and has accredited many of the subjects.
In addition, ACCA UK (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) fully accredits the BCom in Accounting degree. Students may proceed onto ACCA postgraduate courses and become certified chartered accountants in South Africa.
Qualification structure
The syllabus comprises of three levels:
Level 1
Students are introduced to the basic principles of Accounting.

Students who fulfil all the requirements for Levels 1, 2, and 3 are awarded the MGI Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting degree.

Level 4 (Professional qualification of ACCA)
MGI is a tuition provider for the professional qualification of ACCA. For entry into ACCA’s Professional Qualification,students must be 18 or older and have gained the BCom in Accounting qualification. Holders of this qualification must apply for exemption for all fundamental level modules.
